Testing vs. Remediation
"Mold company" is doing a lot of work in that sentence. Testing (finding out if, where, and how much mold you have) and remediation (removing it and fixing the cause) call for different tools, different training, and happen at different stages of the process.
A mold inspector does a visual inspection, moisture mapping with a meter, and often air or surface sampling sent to a lab — you get back a written report of findings. A remediation crew does containment, physical removal of affected material, HEPA air filtration during the work, and — the part that actually prevents a repeat problem — fixing the moisture source that let the mold grow in the first place.
Some companies offer both under one roof, which can be convenient for a straightforward job. For anything you're uncertain about, or where insurance or a real estate transaction is involved, getting the testing and the remediation from separate providers gives you a second, independent set of eyes on the results before any repair work starts.
